Cemetery Strategy 2025

Xyst developed a strategy to address the following three key elements:

  • Legacy – assessing the Legacy of existing cemeteries, including their historical and cultural significance, community expectations and preservation needs as well as minimising operational costs and a strategy for making information available/visible;
  • The Now – evaluating current infrastructure, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This would consider minimising current and future operational costs and incentivising any offerings. A review of fee structures is required to assess the potential for full cost pricing of current operations; and
  • The Future – the focus will be on planning for growth, recommending modern burial methods, recommending service offerings based on cost analysis (current and future) and incorporating sustainable practices as well future price path projections for full cost recovery. The future should also consider whether burial/interment options should be provided at other locations. For example, Airlie Beach/Cannonvale. And, if so, what service offering would be provided.

Project Benefit

The Cemetery strategy is to ensure effective cemetery management, minimise annual operational costs, accommodate growth, assess current and future service needs/interment offerings and cater for community needs.
